The Elevator Game

Today's legend is not about any monster, creature or any coursed object or is related to any particular area. Just like one of my previous post 'Slenderman' this one is also a secular legend.

More than a legend I will say that it's a game.It is known as the 'Elevator Game'.

Warning: I don't recommend or entertain anyone to play this game. This post is just for information and is based on the events and information available on the internet.

More than a game I will say that it's a suicidal journey which is also said to be the way to the world of the dead. To play this game you need a building which have an elevator and should have 10 floors. 

You will have to enter the lift alone at 3 a.m and will have to stop at every floor, means you have to click the buttons of every floor. In between this, at one of the floors, it is said that a spirit from another world will enter the lift and you must avoid looking at her.

Once the lift will stop at the 10th floor. You will enter the world of the dead or you say the world of spirits. But if you forgot the way you came then you will always be stuck in their world.

It could be very risky to play elevator game because you have bet your life on this. Not much stories are available about people who have played elevator game and have returned back safely. However there is one about a girl, but it was never proved that whether she had played elevator game or it was because of her mental disorder.

Her name was Elisa Lam and this incident occurred  at Cecil Hotel in Downtown, Los Angeles. Elisa was living in the hotel and had bipolar disorder. It's a mental disorder which in easy words can be called as mood swing.

She was reported missing on 31st January 2013, and investigation has been started to find her, however she wasn't found anywhere. Then certainly at Cecil Hotel the guests started complaining of black coloured water coming out from the taps of their bathroom.

To this the hotel sent a maintenance man on 19th Feb, 2013 to check the water tanks at the terrace of the hotel. When he opened the lid of the tank which was connected to the rooms from where the complaints have been reported, he couldn't believe what he saw. A dead body was floating on the water inside the tank.

Later the body was identified as Elisa Lam who went missing in past month. It couldn't be found that how she went to the terrace when everything was locked and how she was able to remove the heavy lid of the tank.

 Many believes paranormal things to be involved in this and many says it was one of the staffs of the hotel who killed her but the exact reason is hidden till date. On further investigation by the police a video was found in which Elisa was seen entering the lift.

She was behaving very odd and the lift was also malfunctioning, as per the video. She could be seen hiding from someone who was in the hallway. Later it was seen that Elisa went behind someone. That person didn't come in the camera range so this mystery was never been solved that whom she was hiding from.

Some people says that she had played the elevator game and was stuck in the world of the spirits. While some says it was because of her bipolar disorder. Since there was no footage of her which proved that she had played the elevator game the second theory was accepted that it was because of her mental disorder, however some rumors are also there of the video being altered before being released. 

The reason was found of her strange behaviour but it could never be solved hat how she went to the top of the hotel. Since the case was declared as closed this mystery remained a mystery.

'Once again, Elevator Game is not a joke. Do not ever try it.'
