Devil Hound: Wendigo

This time we are going to hear about the Urban Legend from North America. It's the tale about the devil hound, Wendigo.

The Wendigo is monstrous creature, believed to be tall upto 15 feet of height. The body of the Wendigo is said to be somewhat similar to that of a human but it has the head of a deer.While some says his head resembles a wolf and his body is covered with fur. Their ear's range is so wide that they can hear the panicked heartbeat of a human from far distances.

Despite of all this people also says that though Wendigo has a never ending hunger but it is still a skinny creature whose ribs are visible like he hasn't eaten anything for days, and sometimes when Wendigo doesn't get his prey, he slice off flesh from his own body and eat it to satisfy his hunger because of which his bones gets exposed, giving it a really deadly and scary look.

Mostly the Wendigo is seen in the forests of Minnesota of North America. According to the local tribes of that area the Wendigo is said to be born because of the never ending greed of human, maybe that's why the Wendigo's hunger for human flesh never ends. The more it eats, the more hungry it feels.

There is also another story regarding the birth of Wendigo. It is said that the Wendigo was once a human but it turned into a monster due to cannibalism( the act of eating someone of the same species) when he was lost in the woods. It is also said that if you ever get caught by a Wendigo then it will make you into a cannibal like him.

The Wendigo usually hunts during the nights or in winters especially and that also in the woods. He doesn't come out of the woods and waits in the forest for people to come in his territory.

It is said that because the Wendigo was once a human it can still take the human form to lure it's prey towards itself, however many people deny to this. But they don't deny to the most fearful ability of the Wendigo. The ability to mimic the voices of the loved ones of the victim.

It can make an exact voice of the who are people close to you. No one knows that how do Wendigo get the information of the victim's close ones and their voices but it also have information about i's victim also, though he had never seen him before.

People who have watched the movie 'CREATURE' can easily relate that how do a Wendigo looks like. It's absolutely not like the creature but it looks the 'Brahmarakhsh' of the photos shown by 'Mukul Dev' when he was explaining about the creature to Bipasha Basu. The creature have many characteristics which matches the Wendigo, probably the idea for creature came from this legend.

It's very rare for anybody to escape when attacked by the Wendigo. However there are few survivors and in that list there is a girl. Her name is Xen and this all happened with her when she was just 6 years old.

She used to live in a valley surrounded by the mountains of Colorado. Her family didn't have any mobile phone or internet, they were completely isolated from the world because they like it that way. Because of having no one to play with her Xen used to spend most of her time in the forest playing with her two big St. Bernards.

One day she ended up deep in the forest. She stopped at a clear area where there were lot of sticks on the ground. She thought that they were sticks but actually they were bones. The weather began to change and it was about to rain. Xen had to reach her home before it started raining so she took a random path which could lead her somewhere.

The storm was approaching and the winds became strong. She was moving continuously but stopped at a point when she heard the rustling of fallen leaves like someone was there and it was coming from the trees in front of her. Her dogs became violent and started barking at the trees.

Then a sound came "Xenny". Xen recognized that voice. It was her mother's voice calling her by her nickname. Xen knew that though it was her mother's voice but it wasn't her. The voice was like someone was calling her in her mother's voice but with an increased bass and in slow motion.

She ran away with her dogs but ended up at the place where she had seen the sticks.The thing had followed her and the voice began to come from everywhere in the forest. Xen ran and took another path and didn't stop running. Luckily that path led her to her house. She went inside and took a breathe. When she told her mother about it she just cut it by saying that the voice might be because of wind passing through the trees.

Years later when Xen and her family had moved from that house Xen decided to ask her mother about that day. When she ask her mother, her mother became a little uncomfortable. She told that since Xen was old enough, she should know the truth.

Her mother told that once when she called a medicine man to cleanse the house, she shared the experience of Xen with the man. The man said that Xen was lucky that she had escaped the Wendigo and was alive.

Xwn later realized that in what trouble she was that day and indeed consider herself lucky to escape from that monster without any harm.
